NEWS FLASH: Jonathan Majors Cast in Ant-Man 3 as Next Major MCU Villain
Jonathan Majors (Da 5 Bloods, Lovecraft Country) has reportedly been cast in Ant-Man 3, as one of The Avenger’s biggest villains, according to Deadline.
Majors will be playing Kang the Conqueror, a galactic…well conqueror, from the 30th century who sees The Avengers and other heroes as a threat to his timeline.
There have been no confirmations or response from Marvel on this casting, but Deadline are a reputable source when it comes to casting rumours.
Recently, the Ant-Man series director, Peyton Reed teased on The Jess Cagle Show, “There’s some really really really exciting things in store…It’s going to have a very different visual template”
Introducing Kang in the Ant-Man films would certainly be a departure for the series, with a villain that isn’t a knock-off Ant-Man that has beef with Hank Pym, Ant-Man’s mentor.
Kang could also be a sneaky way to include Marvel’s First Family, the Fantastic Four.
Kang’s real name is Nathaniel Richards, making him a very very very distant relative of Reed Richards, a.k.a Mr Fantastic.
Kang, while primarily being associated with The Avengers, has also fought the FF, who are no stranger to time travel.
After the events of Avengers: Endgame, when the heroes went on their time heist, the damage done to the timeline could pique the interest or wrath of the time-travelling subjugator.
The fact that it was Ant-Man’s van and Microverse travelling device that helped Earth’s Mightiest Heroes do it, might motivate Kang to kill him.
Following the release of Avengers: Endgame and the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, there was a flurry of clickbait headlines of who the next big bad of the MCU would be.
Many were related to the X-Men or Fantastic Four, who were recently reacquired by Marvel from the 20th Century Fox-Disney merger.
Now, with Major’s potential casting, we would have that villain to match Thanos.
Ant-Man 3 has no set release date yet.
