REEL NEWS: APRIL 6TH-APRIL 13TH

This week in news; um, well....look i got nothin. There are some little bits of info about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Thor 4 and The Suicide Squad but besides that, crickets.

Chris Hemsworth Netflix Action Trailer

As there is such a meagre, pithy amount of content on Netflix, there is more for you to state your boredom during isolation, with the trailer for their next disposable action film.

Starring Chris Hemsworth as a John Wick-type (the new 80s action hero) the film from one half of the directors of Avengers: Endgame, sees Hemsworth rescuing a crime lord’s son.

Thanks to Netflix, straight to video action films now have a home and audience that have no option but to watch it when the film is uploaded April 24th.

James Gunn Reveals GotG 3 and The Suicide Squad Plans

Following the #QuarantineWatchParty trend on Twitter, James Gunn has hosted his own with Guardians of the Galaxy and revealed plans for his upcoming superhero films.

When asked, Gunn revealed that Rocket and his backstory will be the focus of Vol. 3 of the bunch of a-holes.

Rocket as the focus is fitting as he is the only one who lived through the 5 years between Infinity War and Endgame, and happens to be a more compelling and sympathetic character than the toxic, self-centred, egotistical Star-Lord.

Gunn also revealed, days after the Watch Party, that The Suicide Squad will not be affected by COVID-19 with the production completed for the pseduo-sequel/reboot to the maglianed, but successful 2016 film.

The Suicide Squad is set for an August 2021 release and GotG Vol. 3’s release date has yet to be announced.

Taika Waititi Reveals Thor 4 Plans on Instagram

On Instagram Live, Taika Waititi hosted his own Watch Party for Thor: Ragnarok with guest appearances from Tessa Thompson and Mark Ruffalo.

Along with his trademark quirk, Waititi revealed tidbits about the upcoming Thor: Love & Thunder.

“It’s like 10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said yes to every single thing” Waititi wittingly said.

He revealed that the film will explore more about soft-hearted rock creature Korg, feature Space Sharks or Starsharks, may not feature Fat Thor and is currently up to it’s fifth script draft.

Thor: Love and Thunder has a new release date of February 18th, 2022.

Ezra Miller is Cancelled, I Guess

Well that escalated quickly.

The Flash star Ezra Miller is seen in a video strangling and dragging a woman to the ground outside a bar in Iceland.

Witnesses report that Miller was approached by fans which visibly upset them, before they ask “Oh, you wanna fight?” and as the woman jokingly preps herself, they attack.

There has been no comment from the actor or Warner Bros as to Miller’s continued involvement in Fantastic Beasts 3 or The Flash.

Live Action Robin Hood (Furries Rejoice!)

Finally, the end times are here.

The last of Disney’s classic animated films is getting the “live action” treatment with Robin Hood getting a live-action treatment.

Now before you roll your eyes, this isn’t going to a Batman-lite version like Taron Egerton or a sepia tone, Gladiator-lite version like Russel Crowe. No, this one, is for Furries.

Cause instead of doing the logical thing and making a swashbuckling, throwback adventure, family film with Tom Holland as the legendary outlaw, Disney are sticking to their guns and gonna keep the anthropomorphic animals rendered in soulless, unsettling life-like success like The Lion King.

To make an already predictable announcement more predictable, Disney are hiring un unknown, indie director to handle the multi-million dollar project, most likely in the hope to strong arm them into following the higher-up’s orders.

Carlos Lopez Estrada is set to direct, with Kari Granlund, the writer of the “live-action” Lady & The Tramp film for Disney+.
