REEL NEWS: MARCH 23RD-MARCH 30TH
This week in news....look let's be real, not a lot has happened. Like one of the news stories is the re-release of older movies. That's where we are right now.
Warner Bros Delays
Following the rest of Hollywood, Warner Bros. have delayed many of their upcoming blockbuster films.
The animated Scoob!, Lin-Manuel Miranda penned musical In The Heights, and DC’s Wonder Woman ’84 have all been delayed.
WW’84 is the only one to have new release date, announced via Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot on Twitter, of August 14th.
This is two months after it’s original date of June 5, and if people stay inside and practise good hygiene, then this may be the first movie to welcome audiences back to cinemas.
Michael Biehn in Mando 2
80s action star, Michael Biehn is rumoured to be cast in the second season of The Mandalorian.
‘Making Star Wars’ have the exclusive rumour that he will be playing a bounty hunter (shockingly), and that comedian Bill Burr, who played Mayfield in the 6th episode will also return.
This comes after last week’s rumour that Rosario Dawson will be playing Ahsoka Tano.
Biehn starred in The Terminator and Aliens, and joins Carl Weathers as, Actor Cast to Appeal to Fanboys Making and Watching The Show To Play Upon Their Nostalgia.
China Re-Releasing
Following a devastating 3 months of COVID-19, China are beginning to return to normalcy.
According to ‘Hollywood Reporter’, theatres in China will re-open with Avatar, Inception, Interstellar and all four Avengers films to revitalise the industry.
Nothing says open for business like the biggest movies of the past decade, and now Avengers and Avatar get to battle it out for ‘Which Movies Will Make Disney The Most Money?’
Patty Jenkins/Thor 2
In an interview with ‘Vanity Fair’, Wonder Woman ’84 director Patty Jenkins has opened up about her work on Thor: The Dark World.
Jenkins was originally attached to direct one of the dullest MCU movies, before “leaving” due to “creative differences”, which is code for she wanted to be original and Marvel said ‘No, thanks.”
“I did not believe that I could make a good movie out of the script that they were planning on doing”.
It’s a blessing in disguise since Jenkins moved away from one train wreck to make one of the best superhero films of the last decade.
Ryan Reynolds ‘Dragon’s Lair’ Adaptation
The white man's The Rock, Ryan Reynolds is set to star and produce a live-action Dragon’s Lair project.
The Netflix project is based on the Don Bluth, 80s arcade game which is a series of quick time events as the player guides Dirk the Daring to rescue Princess Daphne from an evil dragon and wizard.
The star of the upcoming Free Guy, Reynolds will bring his trademark Deadpool humour to the role which will probably be a charming, yet unrealistically attractive loser who must prove himself to be a hero in a subversive, centrist's progressive adventure film.
Spike Lee’s Unmade Jackie Robinson Script Online
Finally, Spike Lee has gifted everyone by releasing his unmade Jackie Robinson script online.
The film was planned in 1996, with Denzel Washington re-teaming with director to play the legendary baseball player.
Lee announced it on his Instagram, giving film and baseball fans an alternate form of entertainment while in quarantine.
