REEL NEWS: MARCH 30TH-APRIL 6TH
This week in a turn of events, movies are getting release dates back, trailers for Rick and Morty Season 4 and Robert Downey Jr. is back as Iron Man...ah, April Fools, cause everyone loves to see people's first-draft, bottom-rung sorry excuse for jokes that are not what people need right now.
Hobbs & Shaw 2 Confirmed by The Rock
Since nothing is coming out, we can only look to possible movies that may or may not come out, depending on whether or not cinemas recover.
Well if one man can save cinema, it’s The Rock who announced on his Instagram Live that a Hobbs & Shaw sequel is in the works. Hobbs & Shaw is the (superior), spin-off to the Fast & Furious franchise with The Rock playing the bald, macho, jacked, man-child opposite Jason Statham’s bald, macho, jacked, man-baby. Still no word as to whether The Rock is Hobbs and/or Shaw.
Morbius/Ghostbusters Delayed
Sony have caught up with the rest of the world and started delaying their upcoming films, much to the dismay of…Morbius fans? All right then.
The Spider-Man spin-off, Morbius that is either set in the Tom Holland Spider-Man universe, Tobey Maguire universe or the PS4 universe, based on the contradictory trailer has been pushed from it’s Jul 31st release to March 19, 2021.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Force Awakens of the Ghostbusters franchise, that will “give the movie back to the fans” according to director Jason Reitman (that’s code for, don’t worry incels, WoMeN wOn’T bE iN iT) has been pushed to March 5, 2021.
Uncharted continues to be as elusive as lost treasure had its production halted and release moved from March 5 to October 8th, 2021.
At this rate, 2021 is gonna be a stacked year for film.
SNYDER CUT!
Rejoice cause The Snyder Cut is coming, you Marvel-shills!

April Fools, you fuckin idiots.
God, I hate April Fools.
Black Widow Composer Now Lorne Balfe
In some actual news, Alexandre Desplat has been replaced as composer of Black Widow.
Lorne Balfe has been tapped to take over, although there has been no comment as to why.
Desplat has a history of being short-changed by Disney as he was original set to compose Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, before being changed at the last second for Michael Giacchino.
Lorne Balfe has a small repertoire, with Mission Impossible: Fallout being a highlight with a heavy percussion, pulse-pounding score with seems suitable for Black Widow.
Rick & Morty Return May 3rd
After releasing the first half of the 4th season, a Rick & Morty trailer dropped on April Fools, a trend set by the release of the first episode of the 3rd season back in 2017.
The trailer promises more parodies of sci-fi, fantasy, anime and horror tropes in the shows typical, narcissistic fashion.
Peninsula (Train to Busan 2) Trailer
Following on from the viral (sorry, is that too soon?) sensation of Train to Busan on Netflix, the tense, topical, zombie, Korean movie has a sequel coming out.
Peninsula is set four years after Train to Busan and looks to be more action heavy, with a Mad-Max vibe blended with zombies.
Hell yeah.
Quiet Place 2 in September
After following the reactionary removal of films from their original releases, A Quiet Place 2 has a new release date.
The sequel to the sleeper horror hit that should have come out 2 weeks ago, has been pushed back 7 months to a September 4th release date.
A release closer to October, the month of horror films, seems more fitting for the creative, skin-crawling horror film.
Obi-Wan Series New Writer
After losing the lead writer due to “creative differences” (i.e. Disney don’t like creativity), the Obi-Wan Kenobi solo, Disney+ series has a new writer.
Hossein Amini wrote the broody, Ryan Gosling crime film Drive, and the broody, Kristen Stewart “reimagined” Snow White & The Huntsman.
Joby Harold has only one released writing credit as a co-writer on the broody, Guy Ritchie interpretation of King Arthur, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword; as well as Zack Snyder’s upcoming zombie film Army of the Dead and an untitled Transformers project.
Ewan McGregor and showrunner Deborah Chow are still attatched to the long awaited series.
Ant-Man 3 Writer Rick & Morty
The little hero that could, is still chugging along with a writer tapped for Ant-Man 3.
Jeff Loveness, credited for the Rick & Morty episode “Claw & Hoarder: Special Ricktim’s Morty” and a majority of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
After the bland, generic Ant-Man & The Wasp, maybe Ant-Man 3 will offer something unique to the MCU.
Disney New Releases
Finally, Disney have announced new release dates to all of their properties affected by the Coronavirus.
So:
-The live-action remake of Mulan is set for July 24th 2020
-Ryan Reynolds, NPC video game movie Free Guy is set for December 11th 2020
-Emily Blunt and The Rock’s charisma machine Jungle Cruise is set for July 30th, 2021
-Artemis Fowl has taken the brunt of it all and been shunted to Disney+ which says a lot about Disney’s faith in the project, with no release date.
The MCU side of Disney is a little messier:
-Black Widow has taken The Eternals’ November 6th 2020 release.
-The Eternals replaced Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings’ February 12 2021 spot.
-Shang-Chi has moved to the coveted summer release of May 7, 2021, beating Doctor Strange.
-The director-less Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will now be out in November 5, 2021 instead of Thor 4 (4or)
-Thor: Love and Thunder lands February 18, 2022.
Also, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2’s release dates were announced with a May 6th and July 8th 2022 release, respectively.
The billion-dollar earners being given summer spots may result in some big money makers for Disney in 2022, which the little indie studio really needs. Support your small business guys.
